The former WWE star signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling after his release from Vince McMahon's organisation last. There hasn’t been a follow up as Rush again disappeared from television, but rumors swirled that he would make his debut on 205 live in the cruiserweight tournament. LIO RUSH will retire aged just 26 after suffering a horror injury on his AEW debut. Given he made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing recently, the timing of his retirement has caught many fans off guard. This comes as a shock to the wrestling world as the former WWE Superstar has decided to step away from active in-ring competition at the age of only 26. He’s been doing a lot of second-guessing and he thinks maybe it’s time he starts doing some re-evaluating. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla held its event It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll) last night from the Globe Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Lio Rush has announced his retirement from professional wrestling. Team Taz members and Lio will be in the Diamond gimmick.
Rush seemed to be teasing a character change when he did an interview afterwards stating, he’s spent his entire life going up against the bigger man and he’s never backed down, and that things haven’t gone as planned since coming to NXT. Lio Rush arrived to argue with Team Taz (Taz was on commentary) and Lio talked about how he has always had the odds stacked against him. He returned to television on January 10 th, but was ultimately destroyed by Lars Sullivan. Since Rush’s controversial tweet regarding Emma’s release, the independent standout hasn’t been seen much on NXT, reportedly due to the amount of heat he received from it.
On Thursday, NXT Star Lio Rush announced the birth of his second child, Dakai Liam Green.
